The Brief
This romantic getaway will be exactly what you need to recharge and spend ample time alone with your better half. Your stay will be serene and surrounded by nature.
Mukima Boathouse located in Mukuma Farm, is ashore a dam with spectacular views of Mount Kenya especially on clear sky early mornings.
At the heart of the Masai Mara, Base Camp is built along the banks of the Talek River. The camp allows for maximum privacy and comfort, without compromising the view of the Masai Mara National Reserve.
Manda Bay is located on the tip of the unspoiled, idyllic Manda island where barefoot luxury meets chic simplicity.
Day 1
You will be Picked up by a Kivulini Planners representative from within Nairobi and driven to Wilson Airport for your flight to Nanyuki airstrip. You will be met at the airstrip and transferred to Mukima Boat house which is 15 minutes away. After a hearty lunch you are free to relax and enjoy the scenery.
Day 2
This will be a day to unwind and do activities as per your convenience. If you fancy the idea of boating, this is an experience not to miss. There’s a boat and oars, and you can row away on the dam as you do some bird-watching and sightseeing.
If boating is not your thing, Mukima Farm is extensive, and you can take a nature walk savoring every moment of serenity and breathing in some fresh air.
Day 3
Enjoy Mukima farm for one last time and after breakfast, be transferred to Nanyuki airstrip for your flight to the Mara, where you will be met by the Base Camp driver guide. Your drive to the camp will be more of a game drive, with the possibility of seeing some game.
Later in the day, take a late afternoon game drive, stopping at a scenic point in the Mara for a sundowner with some drinks, and thereafter, a night game drive and dinner at the camp.
Day 4
The day starts on a high, by having the early morning ultimate safari experience of a hot air balloon flight. You will have a bird’s view of the majestic Masai Mara, then later have your breakfast. There on, it will be a day of game drives and/or walking activities.
Day 5
Upon waking up, fresh coffee will ease you into an early morning game drive within the Mara in the company of highly experienced local guides, and thereafter have a bush breakfast, in the middle of the plains, surrounded by wildlife. You will then explore the Mara in anticipation of seeing the big 5. You can also opt to go on a walking safari.
Day 6
Take an early morning game drive followed by breakfast at the camp, then transfer to the airstrip for your Nairobi connecting flight to Manda, Lamu.
A representative from Kivulini Planners will be waiting on you at Wilson airport in Nairobi to assist in carrying your bags to the Lamu flight offices, and offer you a light snack.
In Manda you will be met by a representative from Manda Bay and taken to an awaiting boat for your transfer to the resort. You will have a late lunch on arrival, then have the afternoon to yourselves to enjoy the vast white beach and/or the pool.
Day 7 & 8
Get to chill, relax and sun bathe on the beach, as you enjoy the facilities at Manda Bay.
You will have the option of Kayaking, Sailing, Windsurfing, SUP boarding, swimming in the pool, use of the games room activities, and yoga room
Day 9
After breakfast you will be picked up for a visit to Lamu old town and Shela, on a sightseeing tour, and if you’d like, for a chance to do some shopping and get souvenirs for you and/or your loved ones.
You will have the afternoon to yourselves at Manda Bay to enjoy your last day on honeymoon.
Day 10
After breakfast and a last swim at Manda, you will be transferred to the airport for your Nairobi flight. You will be met by a Kivulini Planners representative who will transfer you to the international airport, your residence within Nairobi, or a Nairobi hotel (hotel not included but can be added at a supplement).

Mukima Boathouse
Sat within the 360 acres of electric fenced Mukima Estate, Mukima Boathouse is a spacious and homely cottage with beautiful views. It’s perfect for a romantic and peaceful escape on the foot hills of Mt Kenya.
The cottage is set in a serene area on Mukima dam, with a private bridge leading you to this beautiful, peaceful sanctuary.
It has an open-plan kitchen downstairs and a lounge area that leads onto a private garden and terrace. Upstairs on the first floor is the charming en-suite double bedroom, with your own balcony overlooking the dam, and a walk-in dressing room.

Base Camp
Built along the banks of the Talek River, the natural border to the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The dense riverbed foliage allows for maximum privacy and comfort, without compromising the view of the Masai Mara National Reserve. With more than 286 identified bird species, you are certain to wake to a symphony of birdsong while staying at Base camp Masai Mara.
The camp provides an excellent base for exploring nature conservation like the Basecamp Nature Forest and Community-based initiatives like the Masai Beading Center (Basecamp Masai Brand) to promote & preserve local culture and talent. While here experience a combination of authentic hosting and cultural immersion in the company of local Maasai hosts and guides.

The camp has 17 double riverside tents. Each double tent offers a king-size double or twin beds. The bathrooms feature bio-flush toilets and two solar-heated showers; one inside and one open-air safari shower. Every tent has a private deck with a view towards the river bed and Masai Mara National Reserve.

Manda Bay
Manda Bay is a small privately owned boutique lodge set on an unspoiled and secluded location. There is no habitation nearby so you get the beach to yourselves most times.
The lodge is the perfect escape for honeymooners, and couples looking for the ultimate ‘no shoes, no news’ experience. It’s renowned for its wonderful atmosphere and variety of activities.
Manda Bay is all about relaxation – sitting by the pool with a good book and a cocktail in hand, paddle-boarding down the silent mangrove waterways, sleeping on the hammock outside each of the bedrooms, or walking down the beach at low tide, and taking in the peace and quiet.
If you are up for an adventure, you can take a drive out to see the resident herd of buffalo in the infamous blue Range Rover that has remained ever popular.
